Banner ads belong in Hell.

So let me just share some golden nuggets that I wish I knew back in 1992 when I first got on this Internet thing.

If you don't see a picture above, stop reading. You already know this.

The annoying flashing banner above has been saved with numerous elements that should be edited out by your browser in order to ensure a clean and fun internet experience. If you can see the banner, it's likely that for some reason or other you are wasting your precious time and energy watching bullshit ads elsewhere on the web.

But there's still hope. I can help. To obtain freedom, just do everything I say.

1. In Firefox, press ESC to stop the animation.

In IE, press the STOP icon. Then go download Firefox before proceeding to step 2 below. What the hell are you still doing in Internet Explorer anyway?

2. Next, adjust your animation settings. In the Firefox location bar, type "about:config" and then in the filter box, type "anim" to filter the listings to just a couple. One of them should say "image.animation_mode" and you should double-click this. Double-clicking it should open up the box to change this value. To turn off image animation, type "none" and to limit it to one cycle, type "once". (Don't type the quotes.)

3. Next, remove ads from the internet. They are useless and stupid, they piss me off, and they steal a piece of your mind. So it's probably worth the two minutes it will take. Install Adblock Plus. When you restart your browser, you'll be prompted to select a source of filters that are always changing to match new ads. Easylist is a pretty good one.

With these installed, you should have most ads blocked already but if you should need to block another, then you can right-click on it and then click Adblock Image.

4. Just in case Firefox edits something it shouldn't, I would install IEView to quickly switch back and forth on the rare occasion that something looks funny.

5. If you really hate ads, you may want install Flashblock, but that's often more trouble than it's worth.

Now I feel much better about your being online. Sorry for the banner and instructions and stuff. I hate leading as much as you hate following.

This page felt far more necessary when I was posting this shit on MySpace.
