Lean

Some lean on God, and
Some lean on drugs
And
Some lean on songs, and
Some lean on nothing but the tugs
they can muster
from their very last breath
The bold anticipation for utter nothingness
And some lean on poems to get them through the day
And some lean on mugs made out of clay
that typically are filled with alcoholic beverages
That leverage the pain
of mundane-
ness
And me, I lean
on the next thing
Never sure what that is
But it gets me past the fizz
and the fuss and all that stuff
And as long as I look forward,
I feel alive, and that's enough
for me
